Marty grew up in Brevard and graduated from Brevard High School in 1992. He attended Western Carolina University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design. After many years of working with youth part time, God created an opportunity for Marty to reach the next generation of students by becoming the College Pastor at Brevard Community Church in August 2008. Marty has known his wife, Laura, since they were in elementary school; they were married in July of 1998. They have two adventurous boys, Walker and Jackson.

In May of 2000, he graduated from Columbia International University in Columbia, SC with a major in Bible and Youth Ministry. Brent met his wife Amanda in High School; they married in July 2002 and are also the proud parents of Marley Ruth and Farrah Blake.
